Bohemian Nut Slices

1 pkg. dry yeast
sugar
2 cup flour
½ tsp. salt
¾ cup butter
2 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
½ cup chopped nuts

Sprinkle yeast over ¼ cup warm water. Add 1 tsp. sugar and let stand until dissolved.

Sift flour and salt together in bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly.

Combine egg yolks and yeast. Stir into flour mixture. Mix until dough forms smooth ball.

Beat egg whites in bowl until soft peaks form. Beat in ½ cup sugar gradually until stiff and glossy. Fold in vanilla and nuts.

Divide dough in half. Roll out each half on lightly floured surface to 9x13 inches.

Spread each rectangle with half the egg white mixture. Roll as for jelly roll. Place on greased baking sheet. Make ½ inch deep slit down center of each roll. Bake at 375 degrees for 22 minutes.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar while warm. Slice diagonally.
