Longhorn Burgers
1 pound lean ground beef 2/3 cup bread crumbs 1/4 cup minced green onions 1/4 cup shredded carrots 1 egg white 1 tablespoon mustard 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 6 Kaiser rolls, split 6 large lettuce leaves 1 medium tomato, sliced 1 medium red onion, sliced In a large bowl, combine beef, bread crumbs, green onions, carrot, egg white, mustard, oregano, and pepper. Mix well. Shape mixture into 6 patties. Spray a large skillet with cooking spray. Heat skillet over medium high heat. Place 3 patties in skillet. Cook patties, turning once, until browned and cooked through, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a plate. Cover and keep warm. Repeat with more cooking spray and remaining patties. Place rolls on serving plates. Place 1 patty on bottom half or each roll. Place lettuce, tomato, and onion slices on top. Replace tops. Serve immediately. |
