Magic Meat and Rice

¾ cup rice
1 tsp. salt
1 lb. beef, cubed
1 lb. lean pork, cubed
2 tbsp. shortening
1 cup diced celery
¼ cup chopped green pepper
½ cup chopped onion
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can chicken noodle soup
5 tsp. soy sauce

Place rice in greased 2 quart casserole. Add 2 cups boiling water and salt; set aside. Brown beef and pork slowly in hot shortening in skillet. Arrange over rice; add vegetables. Stir in soups and soy sauce. Bake at 325 degrees for 2 hours.

Makes 6 to 8 servings.
