The Best Sugar Cookies
1 cup margarine In a mixing bowl, cream margarine and sugar. Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Combine flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Chill about 3 hours. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 7-8 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Do not over-bake. Cool on a wire rack. Frosting: 4 cups powdered sugar Beat sugar, margarine, and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Gradually stir in milk until smooth and thick. Divide into separate bowls and add food colorings. Frost cookies. |
